is a non-profit scientific, educational corporation whose objective is
to bring the excitement of observing natural and manmade radio waves in
the audio region to high school students. INSPIRE is an acronym for "Interactive
NASA Space Physics Ionosphere Radio Experiments". Since 1990, The INSPIRE
Project has been involved in the investigation of very low frequency (VLF)
radio signals in the earth's magnetosphere. These signals are both manmade,
such as LORAN navigation system transmissions, and naturally occurring,
most of which originate from lightning.
From this web page one will be able to listen to very
low frequency radio signals received by an INSPIRE
receiver (located at the University of Florida Radio Observatory).
These signals will be amplified and converted to sound.

These files were initially recorded off the receivers digitally but are
in the compressed MP3 format to preserve bandwidth. They can be heard with
any MP3 player (i.e. WINAMP).
